Six Sigma Summary

Hello! I found a very interesting article about Six Sigma. Hey! This is important for engineering. So, come and learn.

Six Sigma Summary

The goal of Six Sigma is to increase profits by eliminating variability, defects and waste that undermine customer loyalty.

Six Sigma is a methodology that provides businesses with the tools to improve the capability of their business processes. This increase in performance and decrease in process variation leads to defect reduction and vast improvement in profits, employee morale and quality of product.

In few words, a company or organization use the Six Sigme when they need a complete process: define, measure, analyze, design, and verify. That process is to get near perfection of an activity or product and eliminates defects.

This is a little information about the author of the article.

The article writter is Craig Tonner. He is a member of the Six Sigma official web page. He wroted and posted the first articles and he gave the opportunity to other autors to modify them. The last modify of this articles was on Sep. 3, 2003.

Unit 1: Online Dictionaries

Hello friends! Here is a very interesting text. This article is about reengineering business processes.

Reengineering

This article is about reengineering business processes

Reengineering (or re-engineering) is the radical redesign of an organization's processes, especially its business processes. Rather than organizing a firm into functional specialties (like production, accounting, marketing, etc.) and looking at the tasks that each function performs, we should, according to the reengineering theory, be looking at complete processes from materials acquisition, to production, to marketing and distribution. The firm should be re-engineered into a series of processes.

In this unit (online dictionaries) we learned how to use the dictionary and we also used online’s dictionaries. Here is an example of two words from the last article.
